What kind of data we collect?

Pursuant the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 679/2016 on processing personal data:

We aim to inform you that when you take part in activities in the frame of the Young Manufacturing Leaders (YML) project and network, you will accept that our Organisation, would collect some of your personal data.

This document aims to tell you which data we collect, why and how we use them.

We process two types of data:

  • Data given us by the participant;
  • Data we collect by default.

The World Manufacturing Foundation, headquartered in via Pantano 9 – 20122 Milano, in its capacity of Project Partner responsible for managing the website and as controller processing personal data, wishes to adequately inform the natural persons acting in the name or on behalf of participants, suppliers, partners in different activities or any other subject involved, in accordance with article 13 of the Legislative Decree 30.06.2003 No 196 “Italian personal data protection code” and Regulation (EC) No 679/2016 GDPR.


When you register to the Young Manufacturing Leaders network, we ask you some data necessary to take part in the activities promoted by the YML network and/or of the City Hub (local YML Chapter) relevant with your place of residence, according to the “YML City Hub Guidelines”.

That is to say, by way of example but not limited to that, data we ask for:

  • Name and surname;
  • Address, e-mail and password;
  • Date of birth;
  • Town or municipality;
  • Country of residence;
  • Telephone number;
  • Occupation.

We collect the following data through the activities you take part and/or the services you use:

  • technical data: for example IP address, browser type, information about his pc, data regarding the current position (approximative) of the device you are using;
  • data collected by using the cookies or similar technologies: for further pieces of information, please visit the paragraph “Cookie”.

How to use the data collected?

We use the data collected to offer you every day the possibility to take part in the Young Manufacturing Leaders network and the relevant City Hub chaprter to inform you about its activities or to offer you a more customized information responding to your interests.


We use your data to guarantee you access to the Young Manufacturing Leaders activities, among which:

  • registration to events and to activities reserved only to registered members of the network (contest, surveys etc); newsletter and possible creation of the log-in area.

Such processings are necessary to provide properly YML services to the users receiving them.

We use your data also to improve and implement the activities of the YML network, through the following processing:

  • market research, optional surveys and activities of detection about the degree of user satisfaction.

We use collected data, in the event you had explicitly given us the consent, to inform you about local and international YML promotional activities that would be interesting for you.

In particular we use them:

  • to send pieces of information about the YML and the relevant City Hubs (local YML chapters) network activities;
  • to transmit warnings about events, seminars, training occasion promoted by the YML and relevant City Hubs (local YML chapters) network;
  • to send for free YML digital publications;
  • to communicate promotional activities relevant to the topic “young people and manufacturing” organised by the YML Partners network and the local “City Hub” chapters, i.e. events, initiatives or partnerships, by means of e-mail, social network, texting or push notifications.

Providing data is mandatory?

To provide personal data is mandatory only for the processing necessary to provide the activities and services offered by the Young Manufacturing Leaders network and their local City Hubs (the possible refusal for purposes of service providing makes impossible the use of the service itself); on the other hand, it is optional for the promotional and profiling purposes and the possible refusal to give the consent has no negative consequences on the service providing offered on the website and the related applications.

Who are the targets of the processing?


Holder of the processing is the World Manufacturing Foundation with registered premises in 20122 Milan (IT), via Pantano 9 – C. F./Fiscal ID No. 97823660150.

The collected data inside the activities provided will be transmitted to:

  • the Young Manufacturing Leaders Project Partners i.e. the City Hub (YML chapter) relevant to your current place of residence undertaking tasks strictly related to the functioning- even technical- of the YML network activities, such as suppliers providing services aimed at the review and testing of the ads, suppliers of customer care services, companies providing archiving, administrative, payment and accounting services, linked companies proving technical components for the providing of some functionalities of the service; IT and cloud service providers;
  • institutions and administrative and legal authorities as required by law.

Your personal data may be carried outside the Member States of the European Union to be processed by our service suppliers and/or by an established YML City Hub (YML local chapter). In this case, we make sure that this transfer will occur in compliance with the law and the in compliance with the provisions of article 44 and subsequent articles of the Privacy Regulation.

We never sell personal data to third parties.

How you can have information about data, modify them, delete them or have a copy of them?

Pursuant to the EU Regulation 2016/679, you may exercise the following rights at any time, by sending a message to the following email address (a) obtain the confirmation of the existence or non-existence of Personal Data concerning him/her and receive copies; (b) find out where the Personal Data came from, the purposes for which it was processed, and the methods used, as well as the logic behind processing carried out with electronic tools; (c) request that the Personal Data be updated, corrected or – you wish to – completed; (d) obtain the cancellation, anonymising or blocking of data processed in violation of the law, as well as object to the processing on legitimate grounds; (e) withdraw consent to the processing of your Personal Data, without prejudice to the legality of the processing which occurred before consent was withdrawn; (f) request that the Organisation, the Project Partners of the Young Manufacturing Leaders network and the City Hub (YML local chapter) relevant to your current residence, limit the extent to which the Personal Data is processed; (g) object to your Personal Data being processed; (h) request that your Personal Data be deleted, without undue delay, and (i) obtain the portability of your Personal Data.

You will have the right to file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Authority, where circumstances permit.

How and for how long your data will be stored?

The personal data storage will happen in paper form and/or digital and for the strictly necessary time to satisfy the set purposes, with respect for your privacy and for the law.

For purposes of analysis aimed to the development and improvement of the service, the personal data of the user will be able to have the same period of storage.

For direct marketing and profiling we store your data for a maximum period equal to the one laid down by law (that is to say of 24 and 12 mouths).

The invoices, the tax documents and the data about the transaction are stored for 11 years according to the law (including the fiscal obligations).

In the case of exercise of “right to be forgotten” through the request of an expressed cancellation of the personal data processed by the holder, we remind you that the personal data will be stored, in a secure form and with a restricted access, only for purposes of assessment and combating criminal offences, for a period not longer than 12 months starting from the date of the request and then they will be deleted in a secure way or make them anonymous irreversibly.

How to ensure the protection of your data?

The data are collected by the entities, according to the law of reference, with a particular reference to the security measures laid down by GDPR (art. 32) for their processing through computer, manual and authorized facilities and with motives strictly linked to the laid down purposes and, anyway, in order to guarantee the security and the privacy of the data themselves.

In conformity with the applicable law, an anti-spam verification system on the users’ communications is activated. The data here inserted may be verified for the sole purpose of finding illegal activities, but they won’t be processed or communicated for commercial or promotional purposes.
